Bruce Koch

Bruce Koch is an emerging portrait artist from Antelope Valley, Nevada. He works primarily in the traditional medium of oil on canvas or oil on board. His work is also available in small collectable editions of certified Giclée prints.

Years ago Bruce discovered a personal love for painting when he set out to create a picture of his beloved dog, Punch. When he is not painting, Bruce spends the rest of his days creating as a master carpenter, cowboying, and horse and rider training as a Licensed Parelli Instructor.

Bruce’s first portraits were of the animals and people in his everyday life, such as his son, Bob on a bronc, his dogs and his old friend Bob Brown who rode in many professional rodeos. More recently he has ventured into portraits of noteworthy historical figures from the west, including Chief Truckee, New Breast, John Ware and Pancho Villa.

For over the past 12 years, Bruce has continued to refine his painting techniques, and to grow creatively while challenging his technical abilities as a painter. His portraits are based on Western themes, and Historical characters that have inspired him in meaningful ways. Bruce appreciates the patronage of both private and corporate collectors. Locally recognized as “one of the finest painters in town”, Bruce’s skill as a painter continues to delight strangers and neighbors alike.

Over the past six years, Bruce has had the privilege of displaying his paintings at a number of juried art shows, such as the Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona, the Western Art Show in Great Falls, Montana, the Lacombe annual Art Show, Alberta, the Ponoka Stampede Art Show & Auction, Alberta, the Canadian Finals Rodeo Art Show in Edmonton, and the Reflections West Art Show, at the Calgary Hilton during the Calgary Stampede.

"One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words."

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
